With the surf being flat and the weather being warm up north, we set out for a swim on the Russian River. I’ve never been up there, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. With the holiday, the first river beach parking lot was full. We found a little turn out along the road and a little path down. There was a great spot to sit on the bank and watch people float by. We had a nice little picnic, hit up Lagunitas Brewing, and zipped back home in time to ride bikes to watch fireworks on the bay. Lovely day!
Sunny swim
Surf: 2.6 ft at 16.0 s from the WSW at 241°
My back was still really sore this morning, even after spending all day Saturday in bed. The waves were super small so I decided a little exercise might be in order. I headed out for a swim.
The upside was that swimming didn’t make it hurt any worse, but it didn’t improve the situation any either. Ahh well. Fresh air.
Mermaid swim day
Surf: 5.3 ft at 9.1 s from the NW at 311°. NW winds at 14kn.
I was hoping to get some outdoor time in this weekend. It’s been the coldest May on record so the beach wasn’t too crowded. The waves were on the meh side so Meghan, Chris, and the girls, and I went for an icy swim. Brrr.
Waikiki Sunday
Surf: 7.9 ft at 14.3 s from the NW at 313°
Yay! Hawaii! I’m out here for a friends birthday and, while she isn’t a big ocean fan, I’m still trying to sneak in a bit of surf. Today I caught some waves while waiting for her flight to get in.
Many thanks to Blam, for lending me both his house and his surfboard.
There were some smooth, mellow, small waves thanks to big swell wrapping around from the NW. I got plenty of cruising time in and even a little cross stepping.
After surf (and after wolfing down a plate lunch,) I swam a few laps at Kaimana. I didn’t get out too far, there were lots of surfers and outriggers out, but I did get to see a sea turtle and so many many fish. What a nice little morning!
Wound up late to pick up my friend, but snuck in a little bit of time to pick up a lei.
